Monday Update!
over 8 years ago – Mon, Oct 26, 2015 at 05:22:27 PM

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to drop a quick update for folks. I completed nearly all the edits I needed to this weekend thanks to a solid 2 days of work. I took today off my day job to finish up the last of what I needed to fix and figure that by the end of the day the manuscript will be ready to go back to Mark for another pass of copy editing and a final pass of the rules to make sure everything is copacetic.

While Mark is finishing edits I'll be finishing the last of the art and monster text for the Guide to The Myriad Peoples of the Orbs as well as taking another pass at the designs for the family sheet and village sheets. There are a few things I'll be adding that folks have suggested over the course of playtesting - a better place to lay out abilities, a place to record how each family member died and overall just a better presentation.

I'll update again next Monday with current status. We're getting very near the end now!

Thanks for all your support and patience.

Tuesday Updateification
over 8 years ago – Tue, Oct 20, 2015 at 05:03:08 PM

Hey everyone,

Wanted to drop a quick update so you all are aware of current status. I had hoped to have everything done by tonight but stupid sinus issues have prevented that. I only have about a 1/4 of the re-writes left and will - hell or high water - be done by the end of the week.

These re-writes have been an interesting case of figuring out where I don't think about the minutia of what I do at a table to make a game fun. I want all of that in there so that the game will be fun no matter how skilled the GM is. That's something that quite a few AW hacks fall down on, if you haven't already ran a lot of AW games the process of GMing a game that doesn't explicitly detail how things should work becomes a lot of frustrating trial and error. Something I hope to avoid by putting a crap ton of work into the GM section. I'm also rewriting large chunks of the module creation section using a less esoteric example - specifically the beginner module TRIALS OF RED GULCH. It uses standard fantasy/D&D style races and kingdoms so it's easier for folks to digest.

Another thing I've learned, the next game I release will be done or in final testing before I kickstart. I hate letting you guys stew waiting for me to get everything done, I would much rather have a 2-3 month turn around for the next game instead of 1 year.

Anyway, I'll update again over the weekend!

Thanks again for your patience!

A lack of updates update
over 8 years ago – Wed, Oct 14, 2015 at 11:24:02 PM

Hey Folks,

William Lee was spot on in the comments calling me out for failing to provide the updates I promised. I've got no good excuse for it, just that life has been life and I should have made the time for you folks. I deeply apologize.

I'm currently finishing final re-writes. I am hopeful they will be done before Tuesday of next week. I'm going to get back to work but again I want to apologize for not following through with my prior promise of keeping you updated. I'll do better.

Thanks!

Early September Update - The GRRRR delays edition
over 8 years ago – Thu, Sep 10, 2015 at 09:58:48 PM

Hey folks,

I'm sure some of you are frustrated with the current pace of things, so am I! But I did get the full edits back and there are some places I need to punch up the text - especially adding some additional explanatory text to a few sections. So I'm working feverishly on that, hoping to get it done before middle of next week. Once that's done, it will go back to the editor for a final pass and then off to layouts! I am expecting to be in layouts in the next couple of weeks, it's mostly dependent on how fast I can add in the sections.

In the meantime I've also been working on the beginner module, THE TRIALS OF RED GULCH which should release sometime in the next month or so.

Jason Morningstar and Sage LaTorra and Adam Koebel are waiting on my final text before they finish up their modules but expect to hear more on those soon!

Anyway, I'm sorry for the delays but I'm doing everything I can to get you as great a game as I can muster!

I'll be updating more often since we're right near the end here, expect another update next week.

Thanks,

Steve

Mid-August Update
over 8 years ago – Wed, Aug 26, 2015 at 06:41:41 PM

Hey everyone,

Wanted to let everyone know where we are. Editings taking a bit longer than expected but we're diligently working on getting everything ready for the layouts ASAP. As we're getting near the end of the road I'll be sending out backerkit surveys and locking down backerkit pre-orders in the next 2 weeks. I'll make an additional post at that time to notify everyone. I really apologize for the delays, but we're working hard to get you the best possible game.

The additional interval has yielded one plus, I get to draw more monster portraits for the unit guide!

Stuff like Chapa, Squonks and Drop Bears

Dropbear, Squonks, Chapa
Dropbear, Squonks, Chapa

We're expecting significant movement in the editing space this week and until I get that last edit copy in my hands I'm just going to keep pumping these monsters out. Probably do 1 or two full creature images as well.
